Spellbook Workshop

Our docs are now available at We'll keep this around as a reference, but we won't update them and eventually plan to deprecate.
I hope you’re looking forward to the Spellbook workshop at Dunecon!
There’s a few prerequisites that will help make this workshop run smoothly. We ask that if attendees would like to follow along they make sure they have the following set up before we begin.
  1. 1.
Have Python 3.9 installed on your computer.
  2. 2.
Install an IDE to edit your code. VSCode is a nice free one.
  3. 3.
    Ensure that pip is installed.
  4. 4.
Install pipenv, this will allow us to create a virtualenv with dbt.
  5. 5.
Set up git and github including authentication.
  6. 6.
Make a fork of the spellbook repo. Including cloning locally and adding an upstream.
  7. 7.
Review Github’s instructions on how to make a pull request from a fork.
Feel free to reach out if you need help or if anything is unclear. We are here to help!
